Out of the ordinary animal sightings have been becoming more ordinary over the past few years – mountain lions and bobcats are often spotted throughout Connecticut, and a bear was recently tranquilized out of a tree in downtown Danbury.  But on Monday, the Ridgefield Press published a reader-submitted video that make these animal sightings just so…American.

The Press reports that Ridgefield resident Rich Lechner was driving to work on Route 116 in North Salem, New York early Monday morning when he saw a kangaroo or wallaby standing in the middle of the road.  He was able to pull out his iPhone and take a video of it hopping away through a person’s yard.

The 10-second video is decidedly epic–Lechner was rocking out to REO Speedwagon’s “I Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore” while he took the video.  Hop over to the Press‘ site to see it:  theridgefieldpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/kangaroo.mov

“The wallaby, smaller than a kangaroo, has been known to exist as an escape in Westchester County, where several people have kept them as pets,” the Press reported.
