From the Danbury Museum & Historical Society
On Thursday, April 26th, the Danbury Museum & Historical Society will host ‘Hats Off to Baseball’, a special fundraiser, from 5:30 to 7pm.
The evening will feature a festive, ballpark atmosphere and include the auction and sale of baseball caps and other collectible memorabilia from local, regional and national teams. Refreshments will be served with food provided by Two Steps Downtown Grille.
Guests will also get a chance to preview the Danbury Museum’s upcoming exhibit, Covering All the Bases: A Pictorial History of Danbury Baseball before it’s official opening on June 9, 2012.
“The Danbury Westerners are proud to partner with the Danbury Museum and Historical Society for this special event. Baseball, particularly the hometown brand, has always been an integral part of our American experience,” said Mike Malone, COO of the Danbury Westerners organization. “Danburians have been “rooting for the home team” since the Civil War era and we salute the Danbury Museum for preserving that history. I’m sure our descendants will continue the tradition for decades to come. ”
Tickets are available now by calling (203)790-8342 or (203)743-5200. Admission is $20 per person in advance and $25 per person at the door.
“We’re excited to spotlight the items in our collection that showcase Danbury’s rich and longstanding baseball history,” said Brigid Guertin, Executive Director of the Danbury Museum & Historical Society. “We’ve acquired so many great caps and unique items for the auction and we’re looking forward to welcoming all Danbury baseball fans on the 26th.”
