A dedication ceremony for the Veterans Walkway of Honor at the Danbury War Memorial will be held on Sunday, July 14 at noon. In case of inclement weather, the dedication will take place inside the Danbury War Memorial.
The Veterans Walkway of Honor is a permanent commemorative walkway lined with bricks engraved with the names of honored men and women who have served our great country.
Profits from the fundraiser are going to the Danbury War Memorial with a portion of the proceeds helping out the Wounded Warrior Project and other local veteran organizations.
“The Veterans Walkway of Honor is a unique addition to the memorials in Rogers Park,” said Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton. “As future generations travel the special path, they will be reminded of those who have served our country, and who have fought for our freedoms; hopefully bringing a sense of American pride to each visitor.”
“We are very excited to have this walkway in Danbury to honor our veterans,” said Lee Teicholz, project organizer. “It will forever preserve the memory of loved ones who have served bravely for our country.”
Walkway bricks can still be purchased and will be added to future phases of the walkway. Visit veteranswalkwayofhonor.org for details.
