A PAPER MACHE GIRAFFE residing in Newtown, Connecticut sustained severe injuries yesterday. The giraffe, who could often be seen poking out of a barn window on Obtuse Road, appeared to have nearly lost its head, possibly from the high winds passing through the region throughout the afternoon and evening.
The giraffe appeared his normal, googly-eyed self at 10am on Thursday morning, and by 6:45 that night, its head was dangling precariously from its neck.
It appears that the injury is not the giraffe’s first brush with danger.
It appears that the injury is not the giraffe’s first brush with danger. According to the police blotter published on Newtown’s Patch, an Obtuse Road resident reported the theft of a brown paper mache giraffe in May of 2010. The photograph below, uploaded to Panoramio in January of 2010, shows two giraffes peeking from the barn, so it is possible that the injured giraffe was left behind in a stealth kidnapping operation.
