The second annual Warrior Award will be given to a local veteran at this year’s Walk of Honor in Danbury, Connecticut’s. The Warrior Award comittee is asking the residents of Greater Danbury to nominate a veteran who has served in a combat zone and who also exemplifies the values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
Presentation of the award will take place at the Walk of Honor on Sunday, October 20 at the Danbury War Memorial at noon. The War Memorial is located at 1 Memorial Drive in Danbury.
“It was an absolute honor last year to have so many people share their veterans’ stories with the committee and we are blessed to have so many incredibly brave veterans in our community,” said event organizer Mary Teicholz. “Please continue to share the stories.”
Nominations should be approximately five hundred words and should include the nominee’s name, military rank, medals awarded, and as many details as possible about their service. Also include the name and contact information of the person submitting the nomination. People who sent in nominations last year are more than welcome to re-submit. A committee of five people, including veterans, will look at the nominations. The deadline for all nominations is September 30.
