Norwalk, Connecticut’s Get Ink Tattoo will be holding an opening reception for its in-shop exhibition ‘Art by Artists’ on Friday, April 26 at 7pm. Blurring the lines between traditional art and tattooing, the exhibit aims to span the gap between the two canvases with work created by some of the best regional and international tattoo artists.  The exhibit will be on display for a number of weeks and can be viewed during regular shop hours, Monday through Saturday, 10am to 7pm, at 76 Cedar Street in Norwalk.

“For many, tattoos are only seen as a way to rebel, a form of self-expression” says Get Ink Tattoo founder Javier Eastman. “But tattoo artists have evolved their work outside of skin to mediums such as paper, sculpture, and more.”

It is with that thought in mind that ‘Art by Artists’ was born, a public art event showcasing tattoos as an art form where different techniques are showcased across a variety of mediums, regardless of canvas.

Regional and international work previously featured only in the pages of high-end magazines will be displayed in ‘Art by Artists,’ and some of the most recognized tattoo artists of this generation will be at the opening: Stefano Alcantara, Ron Russa, Christian Pere, Casey Anderson, Kurt Gardiner, Erick “Cholito” Diaz, and more.

“Our walls will become an international map of styles throughout the world,” Eastman says, “engaging the minds of attendees and affording them a glimpse of the style and cultures that shape the hands and minds of creative people throughout the world.”

‘Art by Artists’ is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome to come to be inspired. Complimentary food and drink will be provided and all artwork on display will be for sale.
