October 02, 2010 – “THOSE DAMN KIDS!”

I guess I’m getting old.

I’m sick of all of the damn kids coming on my property!

So today I decided to do something about it…

And now I’ve got to have my damn tires aligned again!

Actor portrayal, using a dummy I found next to a dumpster behind an abandoned building today.

No children were harmed in the making of this photograph!

October 03, 2010 – “I SAID ‘STOP TAKING MY PICTURE’, DAD!”

Brandon was having a rotten morning today.

He just wasn’t in the mood to have his picture taken.

So… of course… I had to do it!

October 10, 2010 – “Self Portrait (Spiritual Suicide)”

Another birthday…

Another year begins.

I find myself lamenting the past, and contemplating the future.

It’s time to move on.

I need something symbolic to mark the transition. Something shocking to my soul.

And I find it in the bathroom at 12:32AM (the exact time of my birth)… with my head bent over the tub and a pair of electric clippers in my hand.

Spiritual Suicide.

Transformation.

A rebirth.

October 11, 2010 – “Frozen Patterns”

Teeny-tiny ice crystals growing on the glass door of my freezer at work.

Beautiful frozen patterns… waiting to be captured.

October 17, 2010 – “The Whitney”

An amazing day in Manhattan.

Lunch at the MoMa…

“New Photography 2010: Roe Ethridge, Elad Lassry, Alex Prager, Amanda Ross-Ho”

“Pictures by Women: A History of Modern Photography”

“Abstract Expressionist New York”

Jackson Pollock…

… and, of course – “Starry Night”.

The Whitney Museum…

“Lee Friedlander: America By Car”

Pints and conversation and laughter at Sophie’s…

Dinner and champagne and more laughter at the Life Café…

City lights and love and laughter.

Love is good!

October 21, 2010 – “la Fée Verte”

The Green Fairy sleeps in the Absinthe.

It stirs a little with each drop of water that hits the sugar cube…

passes through the Absinthe Spoon…

… and falls upon its surface.

Drip…

drip…

drip…

drip…

it awakens.

And as it awakens… it begins to call.

And I answer!

(Life is good!)

October 23, 2010 – “Bobbing for Apples”

My daughter hosted her first Hallowe’en Party tonight… (which also happened to be her first sleep-over party – but THAT is another story!).

Costumes… Pumpkin Painting… Snacks… Soda… Pizza… The “Twilight” movies…

… and, of course – Bobbing for Apples.

There’s nothing quite like the mess (and noise) created when a half-dozen 12-year-old girls are Bobbing for Apples!

It makes my brain hurt!

And my vision blurry, LOL!

Still… Life is good!

October 25, 2010 – “Autumn Fire”

Walking back to the house after dropping my son off at the bus stop on a foggy October morning.

The bush in the my front yard stands out… it’s (recently turned) red leaves “burning” brightly.

Autumn Fire.

Simply beautiful!
