Sidewalk Dave are very cool guys, we met them after their show at Larry’s a couple of weeks back. Sharp-dressed, too, and talented musicians/songwriters. Pretty rare combo—especially for people from New Haven (ha ha, JK Elm City! Love the Tune Inn and Mamoun’s!).

Anyway, from the shows we’ve seen, Sidewalk Dave have some pretty great songs themed around something we know a lot about—Sweet Lady Liquor. Can’t go wrong with songs about booze, just like you can’t go wrong with songs about illegal immigrant transvestite prostitutes—both subjects are deeply ingrained in the average American listeners’ psyche…

Anyway, from the shows we’ve seen, Sidewalk Dave have some pretty great songs themed around something we know a lot about—Sweet Lady Liquor. Can’t go wrong with songs about booze, just like you can’t go wrong with songs about illegal immigrant transvestite prostitutes—both subjects are deeply ingrained in the average American listeners’ psyche, and they’ll shell out the big bucks if you give ‘em what they want.

Below are a few types of boozes we like, in case you or Sidewalk Dave are interested:

“Bourbon”: The brownest of the brown; Sweet, sweet bourbon has done us wrong and done us right in so many ways. Always go small-batch if you’ve got the bread and the balls.

“The Johnny B. Drunk”: One part Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic + one part citrus-y “Sublime”-brand malt beverage = deliciously serious repercussions. Ready your barf bags and get the bail bondsman on speed-dial, this one was ultimately re-dubbed “The Johnny B. Sick” with good reason. Used to drink these at the old Hat City Ale House before it turned into a disgusting puppy mill run by a ghoulish cave-hag.

“The Botchagaloop”: I think this is just cheap Scotch and tap water, but it made this dude Monkey puke lentil soup in Brah Wobble’s tub a few years back. So it’s got that going for it.

“Bum Wine”: We don’t really drink these, but we had a funny conversation recently about “wines” such as Mad Dog 20/20, Thunderbird, Wild Irish Rose, Cisco and Night Train. Tip for Teens: These brands are gross but cheap and will get you way faded!
