Anticipation is building for the mid-October visit by the 14th Dalai Lama to Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. While the October 18 “The Art of Compassion” and October 19 “Advice for Daily Life” talks are sold out, the university plans to offer several options for those who still wish to see and hear His Holiness speak.

Western will offer free, live streaming of the talks in Ives Concert Hall, a 750-seat auditorium in White Hall on the university’s Midtown campus, located at 181 White Street in Danbury. The video feed will be in real time as the talks take place at 1:30pm on Thursday, October 18, and 10am on Friday, October 19, in the O’Neill Center on the Western Westside campus. Seating will be first-come, first-serve and the public is invited.

Another option for those who cannot come to campus will be a live webcast that can be accessed at wcsudalailama.org. After the talks are over, they will be available on YouTube via links from the same university-based web page.

The historic visit by His Holiness to Danbury this month marks the culmination of a process that began in 2010 with discussions between Western and Do Ngak Kunphen Ling Tibetan Buddhist Center for Universal Peace (DNKL) in Redding, Connecticut. The cooperation between WCSU and DNKL has yielded a full slate of events that has exposed the region to everything from Eastern medicine to Buddhist philosophy with the central theme of “Creativity and Compassion.”

Do Ngak Kunphen Ling, Tibetan Buddhist Center for Universal Peace (DNKL), promotes compassionate living through Buddhist teachings, study, meditation and community service. The classes and programs at DNKL focus on the ancient traditional wisdom presented in classic Tibetan Buddhist monasteries with practical application to our lives. DNKL follows  the spiritual tradition and lineage of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
